Building Damage Dictionary
Alongside my work in architecture and heritage, I have developed numerous iOS applications for iPhone, ranging from practical tools for measurement, documentation, and calculation to more ambitious digital reference platforms.
Developed for myself during my internship as a tool for use during site inspections, the Building Damage Dictionary catalogues more than 1,500 individual types of damage associated with building material degradation. The application provides a comprehensive reference for diagnosing damage of heritage materials, with each entry containing detailed images, visual descriptions, potential causes, diagnostic methods, and recommended repair strategies.
The application features a fully custom interface, incorporating a card-based navigation system, bespoke iconography, and a carefully developed colour palette to create an intuitive and visually distinctive user experience. The application was published for free on the Apple App Store and has since been used by a number of architecture and conservation practices, as well as individual homeowners.
