State Library Victoria

Melbourne 2022

For this project, I meticulously studied the State Library Victoria’s neo-classical facade, which developed through accretive additions between 1856 and 1964.

To create an accurate model, I conducted exhaustive on-site surveys, employing manual measurements, hand drafting, 3D modelling, rendering, and post-production. Each component was custom-modelled with millimetre precision.

Due to ground-level constraints, I used architectural references for unknown proportions, particularly the Corinthian entablature, relying on Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola’s “Five Orders of Architecture”. The scale of the entablature was deduced from the portico column diameters.
