Boat House

Influenced by the colourful nautical artefacts encountered in Japan, this project explores the fanciful maritime character of the boatshed.

Designed to emulate 19th-century timber kit construction, the composition is derived from a playful arrangement of simple Euclidean geometry. The design incorporates whimsical details, including a Dutch hijsbalk crane system and a small four-sided cupola, whose clock face is inspired by Aldo Rossi’s watch face design for Alessi.

The project was fully modelled and rendered in 3D software. Custom texture mapping was developed for complex surfaces, including the timber buoys and decorative bunting.
